In Development was a private section of the web site that launched January 13-18, 2006. The section allowed administrators, CES Staff, and select others to privately discuss insider information about upcoming staff events, spoilers, and new projects.
History
Between January 13-18, 2006, the CES Forum added a new sub-forum called In Development, in the newly created forum category Network Partners. In addition to administrators and staff, members of the Network Partner group were also given access to the forum. Criteria for becoming a Network Partner evolved over time.
On February 21, 2006, the sub-forum "The Lost Pyramid" was added under In Development. At this time, several other sub-forums with IDs between #18 and #21 were added as well.
When Cracked Egg Studios v6.0 was completed on February 15, 2007, the In Development sub-forum was hidden from the Network Partners category. At that time, In Development was converted to various wiki content within Crackipedia, which had launched that December. A shortcut was placed under the Special Features header on the web site's left-hand navigation menu. However, the section was never fully developed, and staff discussion was hindered due to the sub-forum now being hidden.
In September 2007, the In Development forum was removed completely, replaced by the vBulletin Project Tools addon, with existing sub-forums being migrated into various projects. The software change allowed for development progress to be tracked easily, as well as for discussions to resume. Previously hidden areas became open to the generic public, regardless whether they were Network Partners.
The various projects were hidden again and effectively became defunct during the upgrade to vBulletin 4 and the site redesign that launched with it April 28, 2010.[1]
On January 25, 2021, the web site was closed for renovation and migration to the XenForo software. Upon reopening on February 8, 2022, the development projects had not yet been migrated. As of today, they are still not even accessible by staff, except by restoring data in the company archives.
