News was a sub-forum in the CES Forum, with forum ID #15, from 2006-2007, in the sub-forum Ni-Ki-Oh! The sub-forum was intended to facilitate disconnected discussion on Ni-Ki-Oh!-related news articles.
History
On February 1, 2006, the web site launched the Ni-Ki-Oh! News Archive, which was a collection of Ni-Ki-Oh!-related news articles from various sources. Since the web site's News functionality at the time used a commenting system that was separate from the forum, and to allow multiple threads to be created about any single news article, the sub-forum News was created under the sub-forum Ni-Ki-Oh! (#5).
Between January 7-23, 2007, Cracked Egg Studios developed the news software CES Site News as a vBulletin addon, which stored news articles as forum threads. Because there were few existing comments threads within the News (#15) sub-forum, and because of the disconnectedness of the sub-forum, there was some crossover in how the news the threads discussed could be classified. Thus, they were merged into news articles in the site's main News (#2) sub-forum, and the Ni-Ki-Oh!-related News (#15) sub-forum was removed.
Between April 2-5, 2007, the CES Site News software was updated with support for sub-forums. During this time, a new sub-forum called "Ni-Ki-Oh! News" (#77) was created under the site's main News (#2) sub-forum. At this time, existing news articles from the Ni-Ki-Oh! News Archive were manually recreated using the new format, and could finally receive their own direct comments within the forum ecosystem, but the previously-moved comments were left in News (#2).
