The News sub-forum was one of the original sub-forums when the forum launched on June 6, 2005, originally with a forum ID of #1, in the forum category The Next-Gen Entertainment Alternative. The forum was originally intended to facilitate disconnected discussion on news articles, but was later updated to contain the news articles themselves. The sub-forum was closed in 2010.

Its description was as follows:
Post your comments about the site's news info

History

Prior to June 6, 2005, the web site's news articles were posted without any ability for users to comment. Thus, when the forum opened, a dedicated sub-forum was created for users to discuss news articles. However, discussions were not linked with the original article in any way.

On January 10, 2006, the web site's news software was updated, allowing users to comment directly on articles, weakening the need for the News sub-forum.

Only a few days later, from January 13-18, 2006, the entire forum's software was changed from Web Wiz Forums to phpBB, requiring all forums and posts to be recreated manually. While Web Wiz had separated data for forum categories from that of sub-forums, phpBB stored their data together. This change resulted in the forum ID for News changing to #2.

Between January 7-23, 2007, Cracked Egg Studios developed the news software CES Site News as a vBulletin addon, which stored news articles as forum threads. In configuring the software, the existing News sub-forum was selected as the container for news articles. Existing news articles were manually recreated using the new format, and all existing comments threads were merged into the appropriate articles. From this point onward, the News forum actually contained the news itself, rather than just user discussions.

Between April 2-5, 2007, the CES Site News software was updated with support for sub-forums. During this time, the News forum received multiple new sub-forums: Web Site News, Ni-Ki-Oh! News, and General News. Existing news articles were reorganized accordingly.

On April 28, 2010, the web site's news content was migrated to the vBulletin CMS software. News and its sub-forums were removed, although similarly-named sections in the CMS were created.
