Info Carton was the one original major forum category when the CES Forum launched on June 6, 2005, when it was called "The Next-Gen Entertainment Alternative," and was in use until 2010. More recently, it contained the site's News and Events sub-forums.
History
On June 6, 2005, the forum launched with a single forum category, with ID #1, called "The Next-Gen Entertainment Alternative," taking on the subtitle of the web site as its own name. At launch, it contained 6 sub-forums: News, Ni-Ki-Oh!, The Vault, Games, General Discussion, and Suggestions.
Between January 13-18, 2006, the entire forum was recreated manually when the software changed from Web Wiz Forums to phpBB. While Web Wiz had separated data for forum categories from that of sub-forums, phpBB stored their data together. While this change resulted in the forum ID for most sub-forums being changed, The Next-Gen Entertainment Alternative managed to keep its ID as #1. At the same time, its sub-forum Games was moved to under its other sub-forum The Vault (#6).
On or about December 14, 2006, the forum was partially reorganized to facilitate the development of Crackipedia. The Next-Gen Entertainment Alternative's sub-forum The Vault was renamed to "New Releases" and a new sub-forum "The Vault" (#31) was created in its place, with various sub-forums and threads being redistributed between the two.
Between February 12-15, 2007, the forum was reorganized. A new sub-forum Ongoing Projects (#64) was created under The Next-Gen Entertainment Alternative. The category's sub-forum Ni-Ki-Oh! (#5) was moved to under that new sub-forum. By the next day, the sub-forum Events (#69) was created.
On or about July 3, 2008, the sub-forums The Vault and Ongoing Projects were moved to under Oviraptor Hunting Ground (#117), and "The Next-Gen Entertainment Alternative" was renamed to "Info Carton."
On or about May 11, 2009, the sub-forum Events was hidden from public view.
On April 28, 2010, in tandem with the forum's recent upgrade to vBulletin 4, Info Carton was removed, as its last visible contents, the News forums, were converted to vBCMS articles and moved to the separate News tab.
