Meeting #5 took place on Wednesday, June 27, 2001, on the deck of 60-E Edgewater Park. Its purpose was the Summer 2001 Presidential Election, which ended with Nicholas Phillips as the third president.

Richard Falantano had become the new president. Though he was the first president to carry out a disciplinary action and requested to read the Constitution in its entirety, little happened during his presidency. The training of Pokémon had revived and the gym leader battles continued. The computer program RPG Maker 2000 had also become popular among members. Joseph Justus became more involved with the club members and became a Pokémon trainer himself. As spring drew to a close, the weather became warmer. And as the Constitution stated, a new season meant a new president! Once again, the reason for another meeting was a presidential election.

This meeting took place during the last week of June. It was originally scheduled for Monday, June 25, but to accommodate the Hostomsky members, who had not yet been released from school for the summer yet, it was postponed until Wednesday, June 27. The members gathered on the deck in the yard of 60-E Edgewater Park, the house of the Barberas, the grandparents of Joseph Justus. Six members were present at the meeting.

The election process was still a bit disorganized. The members who wished to run for president were to write their speeches before the meeting.

Joseph Justus had written his speech:
However, he was not nominated, so he could not become president.

Two candidates were nominated: Richard Falantano and Nicholas Phillips. Richard Falantano probably paraphrased his previous speech; it was not written down. Nicholas Phillips gave his speech:
Soon after, the members voted. Five votes (83%) were for Nicholas Phillips, and only one vote (17%) was for Richard Falantano (Nicholas Phillips had voted for him, because a candidate could not vote for oneself).

So Nicholas Phillips became the third president of the Pokémon Trainers' Club.
