The Millbrook Fire was a fire in the apartment building in Millbrook, New York, where John Phillips lived on December 20, 2000. The fire, which originated in another unit, resulted in John Phillips losing almost all clothing and a significant amount of personal property, and melted the IBM Computer.

The fire resulted in loss of digital backups of the following creative works:

For many years, it was believed that the source footage for The Return to the Lost World: Jurassic Park had been lost in the fire, because the tape was not on Cracked Egg Studios premises after John Phillips moved to Millbrook in October 2000; however, the only tape Ted Phillips could find in the apartment before the fire was labeled "Firewor Scott" which he decided could not be the sought tape, and it was left behind in the apartment. It was assumed that "Firewor Scott" and any other tapes melted in the fire, until over a decade later when John Phillips gifted an unharmed "Firewor Scott" to Ted Phillips. In 2022, Ted Phillips finally discovered that The Return to the Lost World: Jurassic Park and other works were in fact on "Firewor Scott" and had survived to the present day.

John Phillips rescued the hard drive from the IBM Computer, which appeared undamaged, and set it aside for Ted Phillips to perform data recovery against. However, after John's death in 2017, the hard drive was not found among his belongings, so no data was ever recovered.

Blog updates by Ted Phillips at Thingamabob.com2 claim that assumed loss of software and other items at the Millbrook Fire contributed to delayed web site updates through 2001.
