The Trick-or-Treat Bags was a holiday horror short story written by Teddy Phillips in October 1996. It is believed to no longer be extant.
Summary
A group of children were trick-or-treating in Edgewater Park on Halloween. They visited a particular house that had left the door open, but inside it appeared to be abandoned. After leaving the house, bad things happened to the children one-by-one. At the end, we learn that their bags of candy were haunted and that they needed to abandon the candy in order to save themselves.
Disappearance
The original manuscript was handwritten on 5 sheets of looseleaf paper for a fourth-grade writing assignment in October 1996. The cover was made of orange construction paper, with an illustration of a paper Halloween-themed bag filled with candy.
Based on surviving data about Ted's Fun Site in 1998, it is believed that The Trick-or-Treat Bags was included in the site's "Story Room" under the "Ghost Stories" sub-section. However, when the site disappeared in 1999, that digital copy was no longer available.
As of 2024, the original manuscript appears to no longer be extant. It is unclear when it first disappeared, but it appears to have never made it into the company archives.
