Card Name: Binding Chains TRAP
Card No: MD4-004, DMT2-245

Quick-play
Inflict 4000 points of Direct Damage to your Life Points. Counting from the beginning of your next turn, you cannot draw cards, summon or Set monsters, activate Magic or Trap Cards, or change a monster's battle position until your 5th Draw Phase after this card's activation.

History

Binding Chains was given to the loser of the Master of Duels IV tournament in March 2004, which was hosted by the historical Free United Club of Kids earlier that year.

The concept of a Quick-play Trap card was created by Ted Phillips. Since the combination was not part of the official rules for the Yu-Gi-Oh! card game, the card saw little use. The rules for such cards were finally written down in the weeks prior to the Cracked Egg Studios-sanctioned Duel Monsters Tournament II, which was hosted in August 2007.

The card was reprinted beginning August 6, 2007 in the DMT2 Tournament Pack, a promotional expansion pack legal during that tournament.

Intended Use

Binding Chains was intended to be part of a finishing combo in burn decks, by immediately chaining to it with Barrel Behind the Door.

Artwork: Looks familiar, doesn't it? It makes sense, so I have to give it credit for that.

4/10

Stats: Quick-Play Trap, another Ni-ki-oh special. Not that good though.

3/10

Effect: If you use it, it'll hurt.

0.2/10

Ease of Use: Well, it is pretty easy to use as long as it is during your own turn.

1/10

Stupid Combo:

You play Binding Chains with no other cards on the hand or on your field. You die. Gay-muh End-uh.
