Meeting #18 took place on Saturday, September 13, 2003, at 35-D Edgewater Park. It was the Fall 2003 Presidential Nomination.
Context
The club remained an avid group of duelists, with the Master of Duels tournament in the summer of 2003. The 2003 Newsletter Hiatus finally ended with the release of an issue on August 27, 2003. To cover the events since the last newsletter, Nick Phillips wrote a long introductory paragraph. It ended with the casual declaration, "I've also decided that from now on, I will hold a club meeting every second Saturday of the month, and a tournament every three months." The meeting was not announced any more explicitly than that.
The Meeting
The next meeting did indeed take place on Saturday, September 13, in Ted and Nick's room at 35-D Edgewater Park. Nick Phillips thought he might try a different strategy for holding elections this time: he would have one meeting for the nomination, and another meeting for the actual election. This way candidates would have time to prepare their campaign speeches. At this meeting, Jofuf Juftuf received two nominations, qualifying him as a candidate for president.
In the next newsletter, Nick would describe, "No one else got enough nominations for candidate, but there are supposed to be three candidates in an election—leaving two spots left." There were four other members who received one nomination each: Max-a-million, Nick Phillips, Bandit Rich, and Seto Vacca. The members present thought it would be fitting, since the club was after all the Yu-Gi-Oh! Duelist Club, to have a little dueling tournament to narrow down these candidates. They simulated the semifinal round of a four-player single-elimination tournament. The four names were written onto pieces of paper and put into a hat. The names were drawn to decide who would face whom. The matches were Bandit Rich versus Seto Vacca and Max-a-million versus Nick. Nick would describe, "Bandit easily crushed Seto in the duel for candidacy, and Nick also beat Max."

Results
So the two winners became candidates. The three then were Jofuf, Bandit, and Nick. The actual election would be at the next meeting, which hopefully would be the following week.
