Meeting #11 was a club meeting that took place on Saturday, December 22, 2001 at 35-D Edgewater Park for the purpose of the Winter 2001-02 Presidential Election.
Since March of 2001, Nick Phillips had been keeping the club's political structure intact by calling a meeting once a month and an election on the first day of each new season. And while the 100% Income Tax was still too new to see if would have any effect, this meeting would continue the smooth stream that had been in place already.
Nick Phillips announced on December 14 in his newsletter that there would be a meeting on December 22 at 12:30 p.m.
The meeting took place in the most normal way possible. First were the nominations; Ted Phillips (the incumbent) and Nick Phillips were nominated and became candidates. Then the members present voted.
There was a small private argument between the two candidates over the procedure of an election: Nick thought that a candidate should be allowed to vote for oneself since it is a secret ballot and it is only one vote anyway, but Ted stood by the tradition set forth by the Constitution that members cannot vote for themselves. Nick grudgingly accepted Ted's position.
The majority was for Ted Phillips. As the president, he chose Nick Phillips to be his new vice president.
