Sweet Home Edgewater

Home Is Where the Heart Is (Sweet Home Edgewater) is a song by the band 245!. The song draws inspiration from Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Sweet Home Alabama" and its lyrics describe Edgewater Park. It was not released on 245!'s album ''8 Song EP'', but it was distributed on an audiocassette through the hands of Edgewater Park residents until finally reaching members of the club in 2000. It was included on an edition of the compilation CD ''Songz''.

Lyrics

Sweet home Edgewater
BX village on the water
Where the jakes bust our balls
'Cause the neighbors make false calls
Hitch on buses in the winters
Shoeless summers, achin' splinters
It's back to school in the autumn
But they don't learn whatcha taught 'em

Spring arrives bringin' flowers
But us dirtbags don't take showers
Long Island Sound's in our backyards
Nameless streets, tight roads so hard
Alleyways like mazes provide safety
Especially when cabbies chase me
Beatin' fares is never fair
But do you think we fuckin' care?
Me and Tyke drove drunk, passed out, and crashed
Admit it moonshine rape my ass
It's where few outsiders belong
My inspiration for this song

Sweet home Edgewater, BX village on the water
At the bus stop pitchin' quarters
Or by the water lovin' daughters
Where no one speaks proper grammar
And way too wrecked to change pajamas

It's where we started our own language
And where I eat my hooked-up sanct-wich
It's where my daddy sold his ciba
Customer chief of police-a
It's where I pick my phone up ringin'
But it's next door's phone, I ain't kiddin'

Home to my first piece of ass
Home to hydro blunts with hash
It's where I pissed my fuckin' pants
And where mullins bahooba chant

Sweet home Edgewater
Rip ta waffle, Grandpa Berger
People fear to enter here
But we won't bite if you bring beer
