Recently Cracked Egg Studios announced the Downloads section would not be fixed nor would any further forum updates take place until the license could be renewed with your help.
The Site Layout has been adjusted such that the navigation menus are no longer relatively sized, as this resulted in display issues in certain browsers or windows were not maximized. The site's content and sidebars are now set with an absolute width value so it displays the same way every time.
And contradictory to the studio's own promise, it continued to endeavor to fix the Downloads issue. By adding HTTP-Range support, download rates were improved slightly, broken downloads could be resumed (assuming the download's Celbos cost was paid once more), and more of a download could be completed in this way. However, downloads of over 25MB continued to fail.
This was a result of server limitations in PHP, but Cracked Egg Studios has managed to create a workaround that will allow members to download all files no matter what the size. The files in the Downloads section will be replaced with .torrent files over the next 48 hours, that will be downloaded as before without issue.
The tracker installed on the Cracked Egg Studios server will then seed the requested files through members' BitTorrent clients. These torrent downloads can be paused and resumed at leisure without spending additional Celbos, which is a great improvement over leaving a browser window open for a 200MB file to complete or hang.
Currently "The Vacca Mobile.mpg" is the only functioning .torrent file on the server, but we will keep you updated as more files are converted to using this system.
