CES Intelligent Poll Query

CES Intelligent Poll Query was a planned vBulletin software plugin to be developed by Cracked Egg Studios, designed to improve performance in vBulletin. It was announced on February 6, 2007, at vbulletin.org, but the project was quickly cancelled.

This plugin sought to reduce 1 query used to fetch poll data for forum threads that might have polls.

However, unlike the query for attachment data had been, it turned out that the query responsible for fetching poll data was already "intelligent" enough not to execute if the thread did not have a poll. Alternatively, the studio sought to remove the query entirely by including the poll data in the initial fetch of the thread data, but that only improved processing time when the thread had a poll; when the thread did not, which was most of the time, the change actually increased processing time. As a result, development on the plugin was cancelled.
