The rules are quite simple. If you're going to duel via this forum, be prepared to have a very long game. You should expect to leave your cards set up by your computer for days on end.
That said there are a few rules of conduct that will make dueling go more smoothly, but unfortunately more slowly.
1. Don't post moves in another person's duel.
2. You can give advice in the threads, but don't post
so much as to confuse the flow of a duel.
3. Adhere to Priority. Whenever Priority switches from
you to your opponent, end your post and wait a prior
agreed upon amount of time (specified in the
challenge posts at the start) before it is considered
that your opponent forfeits priority and you can
therefore post your next move. Double and Triple
posting will be allowed in these instances.
Priority always belongs to the turn player until
priority switches. If switches when the
turn player activates a magic/trap card or effect of
an effect monster card, decides not to activate an
effect, or ends the phase.
Priority switches at some of the following times,
allowing your opponent to respond to an action of
yours. Your opponent can only respond outside his
turn when Priority switches to them (i.e. activate
Trap cards, etc.). During your opponent's turn,
priority switches when:
- When your opponent ends a phase of a turn.
- When your opponent activates a magic/trap
card or the effect of a monster card
- When your opponent decides not to use
the cost/activated effect of a
summon ed monster.
- When your opponent decides not to
respon d to his/her own summon or
attack .
Priority does NOT switch when:
- A monster is summoned
- A card is set
- Your opponent takes too long to think
- Your opponent declares an attack
4. Report your own Life Points at the top of every post. Only ever post damage to your opponent's Life Points.
5. You must declare the change of a phase or step.
6. The Forum Administrators will be watching the duels as judges in case of ruling conflicts.
I actually believe that's all the information you need to get started.
Happy dueling!
