Niki Moto is a young boy who owns the Millennium Puzzle. Recently, Niki and his friends have become involved in a trading card game called Duel Monsters. He will soon learn it is much more than a card game and that it involves ancient magic. Niki's deck doesn't have a real basis except for good comeback tactics, and he also likes to use the Dark Magician card. Whenever Niki duels, especially when there is much at stake, his Millennium Puzzle activates, transforming him into Yami Niki.
