Synopsis
Kingdom Hearts, the unlikely fusion of Disney and Square-Enix efforts, is the story of a boy named Sora who lives on an island with his close friends Riku and Kairi. The three friends desperately seek a means off their island home in the pursuit of adventure. One fateful night, the Heartless come to the island, and Sora's world plunges into darkness and disappears.
Back at the Disney Castle, Donald and Goofy receive word that King Mickey has gone on a mission to discover the reason for the ongoing disappearances of worlds. King Mickey instructs Goofy and Donald that they must find "the key" so the duo set out to follow this key and find their king. Sora, who has been separated from his dear friends Riku and Kairi, has been chosen by fate to bear the key they seek. Sora joins Goofy and Donald on a journey to save the worlds from falling into darkness, traveling to many of our favorite Disney-themed areas, all the while searching for their lost companions.

Scenes and battles from the North American release have been incorporated into the Japan-only Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix story. All scenes exclusive to Final Mix are included in this epic, and the essential Japanese portions have been translated and subbed, so we recommend making sure you always have the subtitle track ON. The Chain of Memories portion is equally as complete, and the editing conveys the parallel stories of Sora and Riku's "Reverse Rebirth" concurrently.
This project has been made available in anticipation of the upcoming release of Kingdom Hearts 2 (PS2), in order to catch everyone up with the storyline, and to revisit the previous games in a new way.
