Meeting #13 refers to the club meeting that took place on Friday, April 5, 2002, in the living room of 35-D Edgewater Park, as the Spring 2002 Election. It resulted in Michael Berrios as the fifth president and in Amendment VII.
With the spring coming up, Nick Phillips knew it was time for another club meeting. In his March 8 newsletter, he tried to schedule a meeting for the next day for the presidential nominations; it did not happen. He tried the same thing for his March 27 newsletter and failed again. In his April 3 newsletter, he scheduled the Spring 2002 election for April 5 at 3:15.
Then members proposed many laws.
The results became what is now Amendment VII.
After that, the candidates gave their speeches, mentally prepared during the meeting. Mike Berrios gave his speech first; it included giving all members a salary of American currency. Nick Phillips then spoke about treating members fairly and listening to their complaints. Ted Phillips decided not to make a speech so that the members would not expect too much from him.
This election was attempted in the style condoned by the Constitution, where each member had two votes and could not vote for oneself. However, not everyone casted their two votes. The total number of votes cast was nine. There were six votes for Mike, two votes for Nick, and one vote for Ted.
The members were probably very eager about Mike's tangible promise of wealth. Michael Berrios became the club's fifth president. The results of the meeting were published in the next newsletter, on April 12.
