The Strategy Guide Era was the first era related to game development in Cracked Egg Studios history. The era began in late 1994 and continued until mid-1997. It was succeeded by the BASIC Era.
The Strategy Guide Era was marked by a focus on video game development in which the main development track involved the creation of instruction booklets, strategy guides, storyboards, or other such hard copy materials, rather than actual programming. Ted never did acquire this kit, but eventually learned of other ways to make games on a computer, such as by using the BASIC language.
While several future games would also be heavily developed using paper game documents as part of the process, scholars consider this era as ended once other methods of development became actively used.
